How to install Shuffle.
It takes three steps and one sign-out, on an up-to-date Arch Linux or CachyOS with KDE Plasma 6.8. You need your key from the purchase email.
Before you start
- A 64-bit Intel or AMD PC with Arch Linux or CachyOS
- KDE Plasma 6.8, Wayland session
- Your key
Bring your computer up to date
Shuffle is built for today's Plasma, so update first. Open Konsole, run this, answer yes, then restart.
sudo pacman -SyuDownload with your key
Paste your key on the Download page. Shuffle-install.sh, about 90 MB, lands in Downloads and already carries your key.
Run it in Konsole
Type your password once. When pacman asks to remove plasma-keyboard, type y: Shuffle's Keyboard takes its place.
bash ~/ Downloads/ Shuffle-install.shSet up, then sign out once
The Set up Shuffle window opens by itself. Choose Set up, pick your look, then sign out. Sign back in and a short tour shows you around.
Get your apps
Set up's last step offers an app store and the apps Shuffle recommends. For Steam, Office files, printers and the rest, Help has a short answer for each.
Updates come by themselves
- Your key is already in. New versions of Shuffle arrive with the rest of your system's updates.
- Keep updating as you always do: sudo pacman -Syu, or Check for updates in Search.
If something goes wrong
- The install stops with an error
- Shuffle won't start after sign-in
Changed your mind later?
In Shuffle Settings, choose About, then Turn off, and sign out: plain Plasma is back. To remove Shuffle completely after that, run this in Konsole. Your apps and files are never touched.
sudo pacman -Rs shuffle-plasma
