No accounts, ads or tracking

Nothing you type into Search leaves your computer unless you choose its web line. What does go online, and why:

  • Weather starts off. If you turn it on, it sends your approximate location to Open-Meteo every ten minutes.
  • Currency conversion fetches exchange rates.
  • Calendars you add are fetched from their own address.
  • Updates send your Shuffle key to Shuffle's update server.
  • If you choose Ask Your Computer in Set up, its model downloads once from Hugging Face. What you ask stays on your computer.
  • If you sign in to Codex, questions you hand it go to OpenAI on your own ChatGPT plan. It takes one only when you tap, unless you switch that on.
  • Search's web line sends the words you typed to DuckDuckGo in your browser, only when you tap it or press Enter with nothing found.
  • Mail to support@shuffleplasma.com is answered automatically, then forwarded to a person.

Easy to undo

  • Tap Cards in Control Center and your windows are ordinary windows again.
  • In Shuffle Settings, choose About, then Turn off, and sign out once for plain Plasma.
  • If Shuffle ever won’t start, choose “KDE Plasma (turns Shuffle off)” at the sign-in screen for plain Plasma.
  • Removing the package afterwards puts Plasma back as it was.
  • Your apps and files are never touched.
One switch puts your windows back exactly as they were.

What Shuffle changes on your computer

  • Its Keyboard replaces Plasma's on-screen keyboard for every account, the sign-in screen included.
  • It comes with its own looks, cursors and wallpapers.
